The wind may whip.
The waves may come upon me,
But today I shall walk on water.
In this, it is true: not all I carry today is meant for me.
What was and will be, I cannot hold;
Yet, my thoughts bear much of both.
Weighted in concern, my mind will sink,
And my resolve will fall short.
Distracted by circumstance, I agonize.
Trashing in thought, my pulse outpaces my peace.
How I shoulder responsibility affects my balance.
What holds my gaze affects the firmness of my next step.
All that is wrong is put in its rightful place when I opt to witness the supernatural power of God.
Despite my natural inclination to fear as I falter,
I am confident and convinced, from past to present and beyond;
Only God’s hand can steady my mind, body, and spirit.
As such, I will reach out to Him more than this world.
The latter may attempt to divert me,
But God will surely deliver me.
So, let the winds whip,
And waves come upon me.
For today I shall walk on water.
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
“Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
