Four days after a Chicago elementary school teacher was captured in a viral video appearing to mock the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at a “No Kings” rally, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has not announced any disciplinary action or issued a public condemnation of political violence, according to a statement the district provided to Fox News Digital.

Video from the protest shows Lucy Martinez, a K-8 STEM teacher at Nathan Hale Elementary School, pointing an imaginary gun at her neck and saying “bang, bang” while addressing a Kirk supporter, Fox reported. The clip sparked widespread calls on social media for Martinez to be fired.

CPS told Fox it “remains committed to… a welcoming, safe, and inclusive teaching and learning environment” and said the district does not comment on specific personnel matters but “follows a consistent process when allegations of misconduct are reported,” adding that employees found to violate policy are subject to discipline. A letter sent Sunday to Hale families from Principal Dawn Iles-Gomez focused on safety, noting the school had been made aware of social media posts resembling a potential threat to a staff member.

U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon weighed in on X, writing that teachers are expected to model respect and integrity and that “no child should be trapped in a government-run school with a teacher who celebrates murder,” per Fox.

In a separate Chicago incident the same day, a man identified by social media users as a City Colleges of Chicago employee used a bullhorn at a “No Kings” rally to call for shooting ICE agents. City Colleges confirmed Monday the individual “no longer” works there, Fox reported.

The Dallas Express contacted Nathan Hale Elementary School earlier this week seeking comment and did not receive a response before publication.
