Dallas police arrested two suspects earlier this month in connection with a shooting in southeast Dallas after a traffic stop led to the discovery of multiple firearms and illegal drugs.

The Dallas Police Department said members of the Southeast Crime Response Team were surveilling suspects and a vehicle in the 1300 block of Murdock Road around 8 a.m. on October 3 when they saw the vehicle leave the location. The suspects were linked to a shooting in the 5800 block of Pineland Drive.

With assistance from Southeast Patrol officers, the Crime Response Team conducted a traffic stop and took 22-year-old Jonathan Lopez-Juarez and 21-year-old Melody Espinoza into custody.

Both were transported to Jack Evans Police Headquarters, where they admitted, in separate interviews, to their involvement in the Pineland Drive shooting, according to police.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the suspects’ residence and seized three 9mm pistols along with several illegal substances, including 60.1 grams of THC wax, 8.1 grams of psilocybin, 10.7 grams of marijuana, and 16.6 grams of mushrooms.

Lopez-Juarez and Espinoza are each charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The case is documented under number 129827-2025.
