Footage from SKY 4 showed crime scene tape and police vehicles surrounding the parking lot outside the store’s main entrance. WFAA’s helicopter captured investigators moving in and out of the PetSmart and a vehicle being towed from the lot as evidence.

The store closed for the remainder of the afternoon. Employees told customers who had scheduled grooming appointments or online order pickups that they would need to wait about an hour due to the ongoing investigation, WFAA reported.

Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and review surveillance footage from nearby businesses. “At this time, we are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” Dallas police said in a statement obtained by Fox 4 KDFW.

The investigation remains ongoing.
