A Dallas police officer was arrested Monday on a harassment charge after surrendering to authorities in Houston, according to officials.
Officer Dekoven Joshlin, a seven-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department (DPD), turned himself in to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on October 6.
Joshlin, badge number 11528, faces a Class B misdemeanor harassment warrant issued by Houston police, according to a DPD statement.
The department said Joshlin, who joined the force in May 2018, was assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division at the time of his arrest. He has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
Authorities have not released details about the alleged incident that led to the charge.
Under Texas law, Class B misdemeanors can carry penalties of up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
DPD said its internal affairs division will review the case to determine whether Joshlin will remain on the force.
