Dallas residents have until September 30 to register for free trees through the city’s seventh annual Branch Out Dallas giveaway program.
The initiative allows homeowners to select from American Elm, Bald Cypress, Chinquapin Oak, or Sycamore trees. The program supports Dallas’ broader efforts to expand tree coverage across the city while helping residents replace damaged or aging trees. Trees reduce stormwater runoff, cool the air, improve air quality, and mitigate urban heat island effects.
Registration remains open at dallas.gov/BranchOutDallas until the deadline or while supplies last.
Participants must pick up their reserved trees in person on Dallas Arbor Day, November 8. Seven pickup locations will operate from 9 a.m. to noon that Saturday. No delivery service is available.
Dallas Water Utilities leads the Branch Out Dallas program, assisted by the city’s Forestry team, community partners, and volunteers. The initiative reflects growing municipal interest in urban canopy expansion as cities confront rising temperatures.
In previous years, there has been strong participation from residents eager to add greenery to their properties. The variety of species offered ensures options suitable for different yard conditions and aesthetic preferences.
