City of Irving issued the following announcement on July 8
A new hotline is designed to help persons with disabilities get the COVID-19 vaccine by providing vaccine information, as well as vaccine appointments, rides to and from appointments, and in-home services.
For help, call the Disability Rights Texas (DRTx) Vaccine Hotline for People with Disabilities at (800) 880-8401 or email [email protected].
This hotline is for vaccine access issues only. Hotline hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
DRTx is a Texas state protection and advocacy organization that providing options and assisting Texans with disabilities who are interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. DRTx can help Texans with disabilities who:
- Are having trouble signing up for the vaccine on a computer.
- Cannot use a computer due to special needs.
- Need a ride to a vaccine provider in a vehicle equipped for special needs.
- Have difficulties leaving home and need the vaccine brought to them.
DRTx also will help provide more information about the vaccine from reliable sources to help a person make that decision. DRTx has Vaccine Access Navigators who are specially trained to help persons with disabilities get vaccinated against COVID-19.
