A sniper died from a self-inflicted gunshot early Wednesday after shooting three detainees at a Dallas ICE facility from an adjacent rooftop, according to law enforcement.
Police sources said the sniper, identified as a white male, was armed with a rifle on the roof of the facility. He shot himself as agents approached. The FBI confirmed the suspect’s death, adding that the investigation remains ongoing.
“There was a shooting this morning at the Dallas @ICEgov Detention Facility. Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem wrote on X. “The shooter is deceased by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop. Please pray for the victims and their families.”

The attack follows a broader trend of violence against immigration enforcement personnel. As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Department of Homeland Security data shows about a 500% increase in assaults on ICE agents.
Texas has experienced other ICE-related attacks. In July, Antifa member Benjamin Song was arrested as the 14th suspect alleged to be involved in an ambush on an ICE detention facility near Fort Worth, as reported by The Dallas Express.
The Dallas shooting drew immediate condemnation.
“The red/green alliance doing violence again. It’s what leftists do,” Tarrant County Republican Party Chairman Bo French wrote on X.
