The Dinner Detective Interactive Mystery Dinner Show is hosted in Downtown Dallas’ Hilton Garden Inn, located at 1600 Pacific Avenue. The next show with tickets available is Friday, January 14, from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Some shows are already sold out and have a waiting list.

Quotes from the movie “Clue,” found on Rotten Tomatoes, describe the overall sense of the show in Dallas:

Col. Mustard: How many husbands have you had?

Mrs. White: Mine or other women’s?

Col. Mustard: Yours.

Mrs. White: Five.

Col. Mustard: Five?

Mrs. White: Yes, just the five. Husbands should be like Kleenex: soft, strong, and disposable.

Col. Mustard: You lure men to their deaths like a spider with flies.

Mrs. White: Flies are where men are most vulnerable.

Col. Mustard: Right!

The Dinner Detective Interactive Mystery Dinner Show held its grand opening in Los Angeles in 2004. Since then, this murder mystery dinner theatre has been entertaining patrons across the United States. According to Visit Dallas, the cast provides its audience with “intrigue, hilarity, and unscripted moments.”

The show explains, “Unlike a typical murder mystery dinner theatre performance, you won’t be watching a handful of actors stiffly reciting lines in front of the room. The action happens all around you, and any person in the audience can end up being a part of the show, even YOU!”

According to The Dinner Detective website, they claim to be the largest show of their kind when it comes to comedy mixed with guessing.

Dinner is provided, a cash bar is available, and ATMs are at the location if needed. They state that ages fifteen and older may attend. Younger participants must be supervised by an adult.

For $63.99 per person, attendees can enjoy the interactive show and a full dinner menu.

Hors d’oeuvres selections include short rib butter crackers with horseradish creme and bourbon cherry bouchons. This is followed by a house salad that includes an Arcadian mix with house balsamic dressing, mandarin oranges, peaches, and bourbon candy pecans.

Entrees include a vegan surf & turf (grilled oyster and lobster mushrooms in sweet and sour sauce, served with sweet potato smash and roasted green beans); grilled salmon with citrus beurre blanc, asparagus, and chili rice; and the Texas honey and sage glazed chicken breast with hunter sauce, grilled lemon, smashed potato, and roasted Brussels sprouts.

Cheesecake bites of key lime margarita, strawberries and cream, chocolate marble, and vanilla are available for dessert. Coffee, iced tea, and water will also be provided.

Michael Collins Jr. shared his thoughts on the show on Facebook: “You were made to feel legitimately a part of the show without the awkward ‘I wish I hadn’t done this’ feeling of some shows.”

“We laughed most of the night,” Jeff Weil said.
