Officers with the Prosper Police Department have busted a massage parlor for allegedly promoting prostitution.
The Nami Massage Spa in Prosper was allegedly pushing prostitution under “the guise of a legitimate massage therapy business,” the department announced September 15. Police arrested Miles Edward Richards and Yu Jun Cheng, of Melissa, for alleged “aggravated promotion of prostitution.”
“We will continue to pursue those who attempt to exploit or endanger others under the guise of legitimate business operations in the Town of Prosper,” said Prosper Police Chief Doug Kowalski in a press release.
The massage parlor, near 200 S. Preston Road, allegedly committed “prostitution and indecency offenses” while operating as a legitimate business, according to the release. Investigators said they did not uncover any crimes against minors.
Multiple agencies coordinated the investigation, executing multiple search and arrest warrants at the business. Richards and Yu were both reportedly booked into the Collin County Jail on September 16 and then released the same day, according to jail records.
Prosper police are still investigating this case. Officials asked anyone with more information to contact the department at 972-569-1000.
Prosper police collaborated with the Prosper Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Melissa Police Department, Plano Police Department, DHS-Homeland Security Investigations and Human Trafficking Task Force, and the IRS.
“The success of this operation reflects the strength of our partnerships and our shared commitment to protecting the Prosper community,” Kowalski said.
The Dallas Police Department announced on September 10 that officers rescued a minor who had been forced into prostitution, as The Dallas Express reported at the time. In July, the department launched a massive prostitution sting – arresting three alleged traffickers and 19 alleged prostitutes.
Officers with the Plano Police Department busted a Chinese national in August for alleged attempted sex assault in a massage parlor, as The Dallas Express also reported. Plano police and officials also investigated several massage parlors in 2024 for reportedly providing illicit services.
