Drivers on the Dallas North Tollway through Frisco should prepare for several days of lane closures and traffic disruptions this week.

The North Texas Tollway Authority will close various lanes and ramps through Saturday, September 20, as crews work on the ongoing tollway widening project.

The closures, which began on Monday, affect major intersections including PGA Parkway, Gaylord Parkway, and Cotton Gin Road. Most disruptions will occur during daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., potentially impacting thousands of daily commuters.

Construction crews will use the closures for widening work, sign installation, and final pavement markings. The project represents a significant phase in NTTA’s expansion of the heavily traveled corridor.

Northbound drivers face the most extensive impacts. The left lane from Sam Rayburn Tollway to PGA Parkway closes weekdays during peak midday hours.

The northbound right lane on Gaylord Parkway will be closed daily throughout the week. Southbound traffic encounters closures only at the PGA Parkway right lane.

Local roads won’t escape the construction zone either. Cotton Gin Road lanes under the tollway will close in both directions Monday through Friday.

NTTA officials recommend drivers use the Waze navigation app to find alternate routes. The agency provides real-time updates through its traffic website for motorists planning their commutes.

The widening project aims to reduce congestion on one of North Texas’s busiest toll roads. Frisco’s rapid growth has strained the tollway’s capacity in recent years.
