MD Health Pathways has launched its Tap Telehealth program in Algonquin, Illinois, giving the suburb’s 30,000 residents direct access to licensed medical professionals through text or phone. The rollout follows Village Board approval earlier this month.

Residents will receive a free trial before a $6 monthly “Telehealth Services” charge is added to utility bills. Participation is voluntary, and residents may opt out at any time. Local officials said the program is designed to address long wait times, transportation barriers, and limited access to providers identified in recent health assessments.

“This program represents an important step toward addressing barriers to healthcare in our community,” said Village President Debby Sosine. “By negotiating a free trial period, we are giving residents the chance to experience the service at no cost and decide for themselves whether it is a good fit for their household.”

“MD Health Pathways was founded to bridge the gap between families and timely care,” added Dirk Perritt, CEO and Founder of MD Health Pathways. “With Tap Telehealth, Algonquin residents can connect with licensed providers quickly and affordably, giving them practical tools to manage their health from home.”

The expansion into Illinois follows another milestone in Texas. In August, the City of Garland — the largest city in America without a hospital — became the largest-population city to date to approve Tap Telehealth.

With these recent approvals, MD Health Pathways is broadening its reach as more local governments explore new ways to expand healthcare access.
