The Trump administration has approved a $14.2 million military aid package for Lebanon aimed at dismantling Hezbollah weapons caches.
The Department of War announced the Presidential Drawdown Authority package on September 10. The assistance comes as the administration intensifies efforts to counter Iranian-backed groups in the Middle East. The package specifically targets Hezbollah’s military infrastructure through the Lebanese Armed Forces.
The aid includes demolition equipment such as shaped charges, detonating cords, and blasting caps. Additional supplies encompass generators and transportation equipment to support Lebanese military operations.
According to the Department of War, the package will help LAF conduct patrols and safely remove unexploded ordnance. The assistance also supports the November 2024 Cessation of Hostilities agreement between Lebanon and Israel.
The equipment will enable Lebanese forces to dismantle weapons caches belonging to non-state groups, including Hezbollah. Time blasting fuses and electric blasting caps are among the specialized demolition tools being provided.
The move aligns with broader U.S. efforts to degrade Hezbollah’s capabilities in the region. Through this drawdown authority, the administration aims to strengthen legitimate Lebanese military forces while weakening Iranian proxy groups.
