One person died Wednesday morning after being attacked with an edged weapon in East Dallas, with some reports suggesting that the victim was beheaded.

Police responded to the stabbing call around 9:30 a.m. on September 10 in the 3400 block of Samuell Boulevard at the Downtown Suites motel, where a body was found on the sidewalk.

Officers arrived to find the victim had been cut multiple times with an edged weapon. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, with some suggesting that the victim had been beheaded, though police have not confirmed this report.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending family notification.

Police took a suspect into custody in front of the Beer Mart Express, located a few blocks from where the body was found, Fox 4 KDFW reported. Crime scene tape was spotted around the store.

Charges remain pending as detectives continue their investigation. The relationship between the victim and suspect was not immediately clear.

Dallas police documented the case under number 130413-2025. Detective Cody Clark is leading the ongoing investigation into the homicide.
