During a traffic stop, Dallas police rescued a 17-year-old girl who had been forced into prostitution, authorities announced.
Officers arrested Deon Harris, 32, on first-degree felony charges, according to a September 10 press release.
The rescue highlights ongoing efforts by the Dallas Police Department’s Prostitution Task Force to combat human trafficking. The specialized unit operates from the Northwest Patrol Division.
Officers stopped a vehicle in the 11100 block of Harry Hines Boulevard on August 20. They found a driver and a female passenger. The teenager made comments suggesting involvement in prostitution. Detectives from the High Risk Victims Squad interviewed her immediately.
Their investigation revealed Harris had forced the minor into prostitution. He faces charges of Compelling Prostitution of a Minor under 18.
Deputy Chief Stephen Williams praised the officers’ quick action.
“I commend these officers and detectives for their swift response and compassion shown to this victim,” Williams said. “Their diligent efforts led to the rescue of a vulnerable person and the arrest of the suspect. This case is one of many that highlights our continued commitment to pursuing justice and protecting victims of exploitation.”
The case remains under investigation as number 119900-2025.
