Frisco Memorial High School football team will dedicate its season to Austin Metcalf, the MVP linebacker who tragically lost his life in a stabbing at a school track meet last spring. The loss has united the community in grief while honoring a student-athlete remembered for his leadership on and off the field.
The dedication reflects the profound impact Metcalf had on his teammates and coaches. The tragedy devastated Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, who played alongside him at Memorial High School. The brothers shared a close bond through years of competing together. “I had an amazing time my entire life playing sports with him. It’s just truly heartbreaking not to see him on the field next year. He didn’t deserve this,” Hunter said.
Memorial High School plans to honor Austin throughout the season. The team named Metcalf, who would have been a senior, an honorary captain and adopted the motto “A11 In” to reflect his jersey number — a reminder of his leadership and work ethic.
