A Dallas Area Rapid Transit bus crashed into a light rail station early Monday morning, sending five people to the hospital.

A DART bus jumped the curb and hit a tree at the White Rock light rail station in northeast Dallas around 5:45 a.m. on August 25, Chief Communications Officer Jeamy Molina told The Dallas Express. The driver and four passengers were injured and went to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital for treatment.

Video of the incident shows the DART bus up the side of a hill, having crashed into a tree on the light rail platform.

“DART Police and Dallas Fire Rescue responded immediately,” Molina said. “This is an ongoing investigation.”

The bus was number 41028, operating on Route 20, according to Molina. DART issued a “rider alert” for the Blue Line train at 7:55 a.m., warning of delays.

The latest crash comes amid growing safety concerns on DART.

A DART train caught fire in late July, sending six to the hospital, as The Dallas Express reported at the time. The same day, a suspect stabbed and killed a man in Richardson – then fled on a DART train, and police found him 12 miles away.

City Councilwoman Cara Mendelsohn recently told The Dallas Express the agency has been withholding vital crime statistics. Suburban mayors also said DART has been bringing crime and homelessness to their cities.

In 2023, a DART bus plowed headfirst into The Dallas Express office near Farmers Branch, as the outlet reported at the time. The crash caused multiple injuries and serious damage to the building.
