Dallas Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons has officially requested a trade away from the team following stalled contract negotiations.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Parsons was growing closer to a trade and had begun considering severing ties with the organization due to the lack of movement on a new contract.

Now, that trade request has come to fruition.

Parsons posted a lengthy statement on social media to write that he “wanted to be here” and did “everything” possible to keep the relationship intact, but that is no longer the case.

“Unfortunately I no longer want to be here. I no longer want to be held to close door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization our fans and my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me,” he wrote.

This post also included details about his ongoing discussions with the franchise, confirming many of the previous reports about the process.

Parsons wrote that he and his agent, David Mulugheta, initially contacted the Cowboys regarding a contract extension in 2023, but the franchise made it clear that they would prefer to focus on other priorities.

The four-time Pro Bowler continues by stating that he then reached out to the franchise again following the 2024 season in hopes of completing a deal, noting that he made this decision in spite of a rising defensive end market.

“Again radio silence as far as my extension. In March I met with Mr. Jones to talk about leadership. Somehow the conversation turned into him talking contract with me. Yes I engaged in a back and forth in regards to what I wanted from my contract, but at no point did I believe this was supposed to be a formal negotiation and I informed Mr. Jones afterward my agent would reach out thinking this would get things done,” he wrote.

Parsons then stated that the team said the deal was “pretty much already done” when Mulugheta reached out following this meeting, to which Mulugheta responded by claiming that the claim was inaccurate.

This disagreement prompted Parsons and Mulugheta to wait for the Cowboys to make the next move, to which Parsons noted that the front office did not act.

“Yet still not a call email or text to my agent about starting a negotiation. Up to today the team has not had a single conversation with my agent about a contract. Not one demand has been made by my agent about money years or anything else.”

Parsons kept the end of his statement simple by detailing his request to play for another franchise moving forward.

“My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally.”

Despite the outright request, the Cowboys reportedly “have no intention of trading Micah Parsons.”

“Still, teams around the league are planning to reach out to check on his availability today,” stated NFL Insider Diana Russini.
