The Dallas Cowboys are entering a pivotal season, and new wide receiver George Pickens is expected to play a major role in the team’s success.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the Cowboys traded for Pickens in exchange for draft compensation, with the expectation that he will be the clear secondary receiver on this team.

Pickens has put together multiple solid seasons in the NFL despite shaky quarterback play with the Steelers, accumulating 2,841 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns across his three years in the league.

But what should be expected from the first-year Cowboy wide receiver this year?

Many, both within the organization and watching from afar, have detailed these expectations, with Cowboys wide receiver Ceedee Lamb stating that the two work well together and should play alongside each other for the foreseeable future.

“I’m glad he’s here. He knows I love him. I tell him every day that I’m happy for him. I hope we go together for X amount of years. I don’t care. I just know we’re not fitting to do this for (only) one,” said Lamb, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.

Similarly, Cowboys Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer raved about his time with Pickens over the offseason during the team’s training camp.

“Here’s a guy that we get from Pittsburgh that they say is trouble and all those things. From the time he’s been here, he’s been incredible. Is it me? No. Is it CeeDee? I don’t know,” he said, per DLLS Sports.

“But it’s the culture that we’re building here. And so, I’m really excited about the family atmosphere we’ve built here.”

While there is the potential for Pickens to shine in his new role with the Cowboys, NFL Insider Adam Schefter recently told The Dallas Express in an exclusive interview that “talent with him never has been the question.”

“He’s blessed with skills that most people don’t have. You know, the thing with George is he’s got to be more accountable, more responsible, make better decisions. And if he can do that, then the ceiling is the limit for what he can do, because the upside is enormous,” Schefter explained.

“And he has incredible talent and potential, but he’s got to do the little things and act like a real pro to achieve the type of greatness that’s there for him. And he’s capable of doing it, and it’s up to Dallas to cultivate that in him to make sure that he can be the best wide receiver he can be.”
