When two alleged porch pirates approached a package in Denton, they found a rank surprise. The resident had filled the box with days-old cat litter.
A Ring doorbell camera captured this incident on Monday, around 3:15 p.m. in Denton’s Veranda Apartments.
The video shows two apparent porch pirates examining a box outside a resident’s door – then recoiling in apparent disgust – before walking away.
The resident had “decided to fill a box with dirty cat litter that’s been marinating in the sun since last weekend,” according to a post on the doorbell app.
The resident said they have had “multiple packages stolen,” and expressed concern the men were “bold enough to steal right in front of [a] Ring camera.”
Denton Police Department Spokeswoman Lacy Fenn told The Dallas Express this resident apparently did not report this incident. She said there have been two reported package thefts across the city in the past month.
“We encourage anyone who has been a victim of mail theft to report it to the Denton Police Department,” Fenn said.
Earlier this month, a Ring doorbell captured a man with a knife approaching a Denton home, as The Dallas Express reported. Residents in Dallas have also been using the app to share instances of attempted break-ins.
