Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has launched an investigation into more than 100 potential noncitizens suspected of casting over 200 ballots in the 2020 and 2022 elections, his office announced Tuesday.

The probe marks the latest effort by Texas officials to scrutinize voting by noncitizens, following a similar investigation launched last month.

“Illegal aliens and foreign nationals must not be allowed to influence Texas elections by casting illegal ballots with impunity. I will not allow it to continue,” Paxton said in a statement. “Thanks to President Trump’s decisive action to help states safeguard the ballot box, this investigation will help Texas hold noncitizens accountable for unlawfully voting in American elections.”

The majority of suspected illegal ballots were cast in Harris County, according to the attorney general’s office. Officials are also investigating possible instances in Guadalupe, Cameron, and Eastland counties.

The investigation relies on information obtained from the Texas Secretary of State. Paxton’s office said it is using data to identify potential noncitizens who may have voted illegally.

“If you’re a noncitizen who illegally cast a ballot, you will face the full force of the law,” Paxton warned.

This investigation follows a separate probe Paxton opened in June 2025 into 33 potential noncitizens who allegedly voted in the 2024 elections. The earlier investigation was based on a referral from the Texas Secretary of State, utilizing information from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ SAVE Database.

The database showed those individuals voted in the 2024 General Election. President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the Department of Homeland Security to provide the database to states.

The attorney general’s office did not specify what charges the suspected noncitizens might face. Nor did it indicate when the investigation might conclude.
