Atlanta-based Switchyards is expanding its coworking concept to Dallas with the opening of a new location later this summer.
Switchyards describes itself as a neighborhood work club. The concept prides itself on having locations deep inside iconic neighborhoods, like the new one set to open in Oak Cliff.
“Essentially, we like working and meeting in coffee shops, libraries, and hotel lobbies. But we wanted all the things we love best about each to be under one roof,” reads a description on Switchyards’ website.
The chain was founded by CEO Michael Tavani in 2019. Already, Switchyards boasts 29 locations, with a dozen of them located around Atlanta.
The chain claims it is different from similar coworking spaces, such as WeWork, due to its locations in walkable neighborhoods, 24/7 access, and a $100 monthly membership.
“A third place is not your home, but nearby and in your neighborhood. It’s not your office, but offers similar community and socialization. Most importantly, Switchyards’ work clubs offer members a way to get out of the house and work around friends and neighbors,” reads a post from the company.
Members of Switchyards can expect a coffee shop look and feel. Locations feature quiet areas for focused work, as well as bookable conference rooms for meetings and booths for taking calls.
The Oak Cliff location will be the second Texas Switchyards to open in the state. Last month, the chain opened its first Lone Star State space with a spot in Austin.
The Dallas location is set to open on August 25 at 610 N. Tyler St., in the space previously occupied by Boxwood Hospitality (Cliff House) and Good Shepherd Church.
