A Dallas resident worked with police to recover a stolen vehicle after posting about the incident on the Ring Neighborhood app.

This resident posted about the incident on July 8 to inform others in the area about the crime that reportedly occurred on July 7, writing that their garage was broken into and their “car was unlocked and had the keys in the front seat.”

“Woke up this morning and my car was gone and my garage door was wide open. My fiancée’s car was also unlocked but didn’t have the keys in there so they trashed it,” wrote the resident.

“When the police arrived this morning, we had discovered that there were hand prints not only on our garage but on everyone’s on our street. Please make sure you are locking your cars, house doors, and garage doors. These people will try to break into your place to take your keys to steal your car.”

Other users from the Neighbors application posted in support of this resident, with one writing that “There are 2 houses in our neighborhood trying to catch a specific guy.”

“We have video. Do you.. can we all share? We also have police report numbers. Ours happened last week,” they added.

“We might have video of the guy. It’s happening in our neighborhood as well. Same story with the garages,” commented another resident.

One comment under this post claimed that this incident was part of “Organized street crime,” claiming that the police are not able to do anything to help.

“Some houses get targeted and the vulnerable are forced to steal, vandalize, stalk, etc. Cops know about this but don’t do anything,” they wrote.

Despite these claims, the initial resident followed up on this post with an update, stating that they had worked with the police to help find the vehicle and potential suspects.

“They found my car at the 7/11 on Maple. They have arrested 2 suspects,” stated the resident.

This resolution comes as many residents have posted on the Ring Neighborhood app to disclose issues with vehicular crime, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Many of these residents have voiced their concerns about the ongoing issues, combining them with a lack of significant action being taken by the police to manage the crime.

A recent investigation by The Metroplex Civic & Business Association (MCBA) found that vehicle-related crime rates are significantly greater in Dallas compared to Fort Worth. The rate of motor vehicle crime in Dallas is 18 times that of Fort Worth, while overall crime in Dallas is seven times higher than in Fort Worth.
