A veteran Dallas police officer was arrested Thursday after turning himself in on felony theft charges.
Senior Corporal Le Chau, who has served with the department for over a decade, faces accusations of stealing between $30,000 and $150,000.
Chau, badge number 10552, surrendered to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office on July 10, 2025. He was wanted on a warrant issued by his own department for third-degree felony theft.
The officer joined the Dallas Police Department in May 2013. He was most recently assigned to the Basic Academy, where new recruits receive training.
Department officials immediately placed Chau on administrative leave. The suspension will continue pending the outcome of an internal investigation into the alleged theft.
The specific circumstances surrounding the theft allegations remain unclear. Police have not disclosed when or how the alleged theft occurred.
Third-degree felony theft in Texas carries potential penalties, including prison time. Convicted offenders can face between two and ten years in state prison.
