The Dallas Police Department launched an anti-road rage mission last week, landing 387 citations.

The Dallas Police Traffic Unit conducted 310 traffic stops and issued 387 citations during the “road rage prevention initiative,” the department posted on Facebook. Officer Jonathan Maner told The Dallas Express that this mission took place on June 26.

“We are committed to keeping Dallas streets safe,” the post reads. “Traffic officers are on patrol across the city to keep our streets safe for drivers and pedestrians.”

“Road rage incidents are not specific to any one time of day,” Maner said. “They are reported during the daytime, the evening, and late at night.”

Dallas police responded to a fatal shooting on I-75 the morning of June 11, but it was unclear if road rage was involved, according to Fox 4.

The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex saw multiple violent road rage incidents in 2024. As The Dallas Express reported at the time, an apparent case of road rage led to the shooting of a two-year-old girl in August 2024. Then, in September, Haltom City police asked for the public’s help finding a road rage shooter who wounded a 16-year-old boy. In October, a Plano man was sentenced to 40 years in prison for shooting an Uber driver in a fit of road rage.

The department’s traffic unit reviews reports of road rage and “analyzes the data” to find when and where these incidents typically happen, Maner said.

Police also work to keep roads safe with monthly, citywide road rage enforcement, public service announcements, and “high enforcement” in high-fatality areas and “daily school zone enforcement,” according to Maner.

“Drive smart. Drive safe. Drive home,” Maner said.
