Dallas police have arrested two men for allegedly gunning down 33-year-old Drew Knowles in East Dallas — the city’s 13th homicide victim in June, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

According to the department’s investigation, Knowles was sitting inside a vehicle in the 2700 block of Florence Street around 8:45 a.m. when two suspects opened fire on him. Knowles tried to flee but crashed a short distance away, where he died at the scene.

Later that same day, police arrested 34-year-old Rodney Brown and 23-year-old Jorge Moncivais. Both were charged with Murder and booked into the Dallas County Jail.

The case is documented under report number 090688-2025. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Kofi Sapon at 214-671-3602 or [email protected].

Mayor Reaffirms Public Safety as Priority

Mayor Eric Johnson reiterated last week that public safety is the city’s number one priority. As The Dallas Express previously reported, Johnson emphasized his commitment to fully staffing the Dallas Police Department and backing law enforcement resources.

With 13 homicide victims this month, and multiple open investigations, the pressure on city leaders — and on law enforcement — is mounting as July approaches.
