The Dallas Police Department is asking residents to help find a robbery suspect.
Dallas police are seeking the public’s help finding 29-year-old Donavan Spearman, the department posted on Facebook. Spearman is wanted for an aggravated robbery in South Dallas on April 5. Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for his arrest.
Police responded to a “robbery in progress” near 1500 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. on April 5 at 2:50 p.m., said Officer Luis Mata to The Dallas Express.
“The preliminary investigation determined that two known suspects robbed an individual at the location,” Mata said. “One of the suspects was located and arrested.”
Spearman was last seen near the location of the robbery, according to Mata. He said this is an “ongoing investigation.”
“At this point, we have no reason to believe Spearman is tied to any organized crime,” Mata said. “Spearman does have a criminal history, however, as of now, we are just concerned with the aggravated robbery offense.”
Dallas police could not immediately confirm if he was the same suspect, but officers arrested a Donovan Spearman, with a history of dealing drugs, in 2018 for killing a man in Dallas, according to The Dallas Morning News. Court records show the man was convicted of murder.
Members of the public should call 911 if they see Spearman, according to Mata. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 158 lbs.
Anyone with information about Spearman’s whereabouts can also contact Crime Stoppers at 214-373-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers will “pay for information” leading to his arrest and indictment for “this and other felony offenses.”
