The deadly stretch of violence in Dallas continued Thursday morning, as another man was killed in a targeted shooting near the city’s downtown core.
Dallas Police responded to a shooting call around 8:45 a.m. on June 26 near the intersection of Cantegral and Live Oak Streets. The department’s preliminary investigation found that two suspects shot a man while he was sitting in a car in the 2700 block of Florence Street. The suspects then followed the vehicle until it crashed nearby.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the man dead. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Police said both suspects are in custody, and charges are pending. The incident is being investigated under case number 090688-2025.

Homicide Count Now at 13 for June
As The Dallas Express previously reported, one person was killed and another injured in a separate shooting on Dusty Oak Drive in southeast Dallas early Saturday morning. That incident marked the 12th known homicide this month.
Thursday’s Florence Street killing brings the city’s total to 13 homicides for June — continuing a deadly trend that began at the start of the month. Dallas recorded 11 homicides between June 1 and June 20, with six arrests made and four cases still unsolved.
