GM is recalling 62,468 Chevrolet Silverado vehicles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced on Wednesday. The impacted models are the 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD, model years 2019 – 2024.

A fault in the brake pressure sensor assembly could allow fluid to leak, potentially causing an electrical short. The manufacturer stated that a brake assembly supplier had used an unauthorized chemical, which could cause the part to degrade over time. An electrical short could lead to an underhood fire while the vehicle is in motion or even when it is switched off.

Due to the risk of fire, vehicle owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is completed. Dealers will replace the brake pressure switch wire harness without charge to the owner. GM will notify owners about the safety risk by sending out letters on July 28, and follow-up letters will be mailed out once the repair parts are available.

Last week, Ford issued an urgent “Do Not Drive” order for  2,345 of its 2025 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty trucks. These vehicles may be missing a brake booster pushrod retaining spring, which could lead to brake failure, The Dallas Express reported.

In addition, Honda recalled more than 259,000 Acura and Honda Pilot vehicles last week due to a brake pedal pivot pin that was not properly secured during production, which may cause the pedal to shift out of position.
