A Dallas man faces multiple felony charges after firing a gun during a late-night argument on MLK Boulevard.
Christopher Morton, 44, was arrested after a foot chase when officers responded to the June 19 incident.
The disturbance began around 1:30 a.m. near MLK Boulevard and Forest Avenue as a verbal dispute. Morton allegedly drew a firearm and shot at another person, though no injuries were reported. Southeast patrol officers immediately pursued Morton on foot and took him into custody.
Police charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance. Additional charges include unlawful firearm possession by a felon and evading arrest with a previous conviction, per a June 24 post by the Dallas Police Department. All four charges are felonies under Texas law.
“This is what good police work looks like,” said Interim Assistant Chief Richard Foy. “The Southeast Patrol Division is focused on getting violent offenders off the streets and driving down crime in our communities.”
The department emphasized that this arrest represents daily efforts to reduce violent crime.
The investigation continues under case number 086994-2025.
