A 26-year-old Little Elm woman was arrested Monday on a charge of murder, according to Denton County jail records.

Ysabel N Marquez was booked into the Denton County Jail at 12:00 a.m. on June 17. Jail records list her arresting agency as the Little Elm Police Department. As of Tuesday afternoon, she remained in custody with no listed bond or release date.

Marquez is charged with one count of murder, though authorities have not yet released details regarding the victim, date, or circumstances of the alleged crime. Little Elm police did not immediately return a request for comment.

Under Texas law, murder is a first-degree felony punishable by five to 99 years or life in prison. In certain cases, prosecutors may pursue capital murder charges, which can carry the death penalty.

Booking information lists Marquez as 5-foot-8, 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She is categorized as a white female.

Public records suggest Marquez may have prior criminal history. A mugshot published by Mugshot Zones in a previous arrest shows a woman identified as “Marquez, Ysabel Natividad” booked on a charge of driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15 or greater.

Separately, the Denton County Chronicle reported in 2022 that a 23-year-old Ysabel Marquez was indicted for possession of a controlled substance in a case involving The Colony Police Department. Marquez would have been 23 years old at the time of the indictment, and The Colony is very close to Little Elm.

Two Facebook profiles that appear to belong to Marquez include photos that resemble the image in the publicly available mugshot. Both accounts display images of the same woman, and one includes photos of her with a young child.

Authorities have not commented on whether Marquez’s past criminal charges are related to the current murder case.
