Elon Musk publicly shared his recent drug test results on X this week, trying to push back on any rumors of alleged substance abuse.
The Tesla, X, and SpaceX CEO posted a photo of his negative full panel test with the brief caption, “lol.”

Some view Musk’s post as a direct response to both online reports and Trump’s own public jab, first reported by The Washington Post, calling Musk a “big-time drug addict. ”
Musk also shared his thoughts about The Washington Post:

The urine test, screened for 22 substances, including fentanyl, cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine, amphetamines, cannabis, and opioids, all of which came back negative in the posted photo.
Musk’s post also follows a recent New York Times report that cited unnamed sources who claimed the billionaire frequently used ketamine, along with a mix of other drugs like Adderall, mushrooms, and ecstasy. The same report also namelessly claimed that Musk’s ketamine use was so extensive that it had begun to affect his bladder.
It is important to note that The Dallas Express does not support the publication of unnamed sources.
Musk previously acknowledged taking prescription ketamine for depression in the past but insisted it was brief and legally approved.
“…To be clear, I am NOT taking drugs! The New York Times was lying their ass off. I tried *prescription* ketamine a few years ago and said so on X, so this not even news. It helps for getting out of dark mental holes, but haven’t taken it since then,” He posted on X in late May.
Ketamine, originally developed as an anesthetic, has been approved in controlled doses to treat conditions like PTSD and major depression. However, it’s also become a popular recreational drug due to its dissociative effects. Long-term or high-dose use has been linked to a spectrum of health problems like heart strain and bladder damage.
While Musk’s test results were clean, science states that standard urine tests only detect some substances used within a short window: often just a few days. However, other forms of testing, like hair follicle or blood tests, can detect some drug use going back several months.
The public tension between Trump and Musk hit a peak earlier this month, with their fallout making headlines before Musk posted somewhat of a recusal.
“I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far,” He wrote on June 11.
Musk, who previously served as the advisor for DOGE, stepped down earlier this month after billions of federal savings for taxpayers, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
As of the time of publication, Musk has not commented further on the post or drug test results. For now, the screenshot of his clean drug test dated June 16 and a single word, lol, seem to be his rebuttal.
