Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Solomon Thomas accomplished a dream over the weekend after making his Broadway debut during a cameo in MJ the Musical.
Thomas recently signed a two-year contract worth $6 million with the Cowboys in free agency after spending the previous three seasons with the New York Jets.
Despite leaving for Dallas, Thomas’s heart still lies in New York, more specifically, on Broadway.
Thomas became a fan of Broadway musicals during his time with the Jets. He had previously worked as a CBS theater correspondent and presented an award at the 2024 Tony Awards, per Playbill.
The 29-year-old has also stated that he has seen MJ the Musical six times, even taking his teammates to see the performance at one point prior to the 2023 NFL season.
MJ the Musical celebrates Michael Jackson’s story by taking you behind the moves, music, and magic that define the global icon.
Thomas officially made his Broadway debut on June 13 during a one-night-only cameo appearance for his favorite musical.
Thomas released a statement in Playbill shortly before making his debut, thanking members of the musical team and writing that performing in the show was always a dream.
“I cannot think of a better way to celebrate my time in New York than by making my Broadway debut! I am so grateful to MJ for making this dream come true and for the support over the past few years,” he wrote.
“It’s truly an honor to be able to witness the greatness of these performers. I hope to see everyone at the Neil Simon Theatre on June 13!”
MJ the Musical producer Lia Vollack also released a statement before the show to thank and congratulate Thomas for his time working with the musical.
“Solly has been such a great supporter and friend of Broadway and our show,” wrote Vollack in Playbill.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to thank him for his time in New York—giving him his Broadway debut!”
