Dallas residents are speaking out on the Ring Neighborhood application against increased crime and the high number of vehicle break-ins across the city.
One resident posted to the application to detail the vehicle break-in that occurred last week, writing that both hers and her mother’s cars were “broken into and ransacked!”
“Person who broke in left their sandals in my vehicle, police report has been made,” continued the resident’s post.
However, many neighbors chimed in under the comments of this post and warned the poster that the Dallas Police Department may do little to help solve this crime.
“Dallas PD doesn’t care about car break-ins sadly. My car got hit twice and the person was surveillance the entire time but they closed the case saying they didn’t have enough evidence,” wrote someone in the comments.
Another resident responded to this comment by saying, “DPD loves saying there’s not enough evidence.”
“I gave them videos of someone stealing off my porch and told them exactly where to find him bc he lived in my complex, that wasn’t enough evidence to do anything to him and package theft is a felony lol,” continued the post.
Yet another resident commented under the initial post and wrote that their car was broken into “twice in a week and a half,” though the DPD seemingly did nothing in the search for an offender.
“They got one of my guest and changed from their dirty and smelling clothes into hers [his] and took his shoes. They switched his backpack with their worn-out one. I tell you this is getting to be too much. They only got me for a brand new floor jack that I had just put in there a day before.”
Multiple other residents also spoke out under the comments, with many sending their regards following the vehicle break-in.
Unfortunately, these types of crimes have been taking place throughout the city.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, multiple Dallas residents died over the weekend due to crimes, including multiple deaths related to crimes that took place near vehicles.
The high number of crimes in the city has become evident when compared to Fort Worth, with The Metroplex Civic & Business Association (MCBA) determining that crime is much higher in Dallas.
MCBA statistics indicated in April that there were 36 motor vehicle thefts in Dallas that month, compared to just two in Fort Worth over the same period.
As a whole, motor vehicle crime in Dallas is 18 times higher than in Fort Worth, and overall crime is seven times higher in Dallas than in Fort Worth.
