Dallas police divers are pulling multiple submerged vehicles from Lake Cliff Park in what authorities describe as a multi-day recovery operation.

Four vehicles had been recovered by Thursday evening, with more identified underwater.

The discoveries could prove crucial to several open investigations, though police haven’t specified which cases. The timing and scope suggest this isn’t routine maintenance but targeted police work.

The Dallas Police Department’s Underwater Recovery Team launched the operation Thursday, working methodically through the murky waters. Divers have located additional vehicles beyond the four already retrieved by 5 p.m.

Weather permitting, crews will resume their search Friday morning. The department hasn’t indicated how many vehicles remain submerged or how they ended up in the lake.

These vehicles are believed to be connected to ongoing investigations, though authorities haven’t elaborated on specifics. The multi-day timeline suggests investigators expect to find more evidence beneath the surface.

Last week, the City posted a notice that the Park and Recreation Department was partnering with the Dallas Police Department to conduct a “lake cleanup at Lake Cliff Park” from June 5-6. The notice advised that Blaylock Street would be closed to through traffic, and the park’s tennis courts and basketball courts would be temporarily closed during this time.

The 44.5-acre Lake Cliff Park, a popular recreation spot in Oak Cliff, has seen its share of incidents over the years. But a recovery operation of this scale remains unusual for an urban lake.
