A suspect shot and killed a man in Fort Worth early Friday morning. The suspect reportedly fled the scene, and police are investigating. This follows another deadly shooting earlier this week.

When officers with the Fort Worth Police Department responded to a call near 11200 Golden Triangle Circle on May 23, they found a victim with a wound to his chest, according to a press release. When medics arrived, they pronounced him dead on the scene.

The victim was 34-year-old Adam Goins, according to records from the Fort Worth Medical Examiner’s Office. He died in a “residential backyard” just after 2:30 a.m.

The Fort Worth Police Criminal Homicide Unit is handling the investigation.

Detectives found the victim and suspect were involved in a “verbal argument,” and witnesses had settled them down, according to the release. But the suspect went to a vehicle and retrieved a weapon “believed to be a rifle of some type.” He then returned and “shot the victim at least one time in the chest/torso.” Witnesses reportedly called 911 for help, and the suspect ran away.

Fort Worth Police are also investigating a fatal shooting that took place on May 21.

Officers responded to the 3800 block of Great Basin Lane for a reported shooting and found the victim dead in an apartment, the release said. According to medical examiner records, the victim was 16-year-old Kearon Taylor, and he died just after 8 p.m. of “multiple gunshot wounds.”

“Detectives found that the victim and suspect were possibly outside gambling when the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim at least one time,” the release said. “The victim ran into an apartment, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.”

In both cases, police had not made any arrests at the time they issued the releases.
