Dallas police are investigating after a man was fatally stabbed in southeast Dallas Sunday night.
Authorities have identified the victim as 34-year-old Draylon Martin. According to police reports, officers responded to a stabbing call at approximately 10:25 p.m. on May 18 in the 100 block of East Overton Road. Investigators determined that 18-year-old John Carranza had stabbed Martin at the location.
First responders from Dallas Fire-Rescue transported Martin to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police haven’t released information about what might have led to the stabbing or whether Martin and Carranza knew each other. The circumstances surrounding the confrontation remain unclear.
The case, documented under number 070515-2025, will be referred to a Dallas County Grand Jury. This standard procedure allows jurors to determine whether Carranza should face formal charges related to Martin’s death.
