Children’s Health and UT Southwestern announced that the Moody Foundation has contributed a nine-figure grant to support a forthcoming pediatric campus in Dallas.
While the exact dollar figure was not disclosed, the nine-figure donation is reportedly the largest gift to date received in support of the $5 billion project. The campus broke ground in October 2024 and will help meet the growing demand for pediatric care, research, and training.
A May 6 press release from Children’s Health announced that the new campus will be named Moody’s Children’s Hospital in honor of the generous gift. The project is expected to be completed in 2031.
“Naming the new hospital is a reflection of the deep trust and shared vision between the Moody Foundation, Children’s Health and UT Southwestern,” Frances Moody-Dahlberg, president and chief executive officer of the Moody Foundation, said in the release.
“Together, with Moody Children’s Hospital, we’re building more than a hospital – we’re building hope.”
In its eight-decade-plus history, the Moody Foundation has gifted over $2.6 billion to Texas. The more than 5,550 grants have helped support social services, children’s needs, education, and community development.
Christopher J. Durovich, president and chief executive officer of Children’s Health, said support from the Moody’s Foundation has helped “push the boundaries of pediatric health care and innovation.”
“Their generosity will be reflected in the state-of-the-art care provided at our new Dallas campus, helping us redefine pediatric health care and transform the lives of children and families across North Texas and the country for decades to come.”
The latest grant adds to the more than $400 million the foundation has already contributed to the Children’s Health and the University of Texas System.
Daniel K. Podolsky, M.D., president of UT Southwestern Medical Center, says the latest “transformative investment” represents “a pivotal moment” in Texas pediatric care.
“The Foundation’s commitment to advancing our new pediatric campus will have a lasting and meaningful impact on the patients and families we are privileged to serve.”
