The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) announced another massive cut of over 400 federal contracts, slashing more than $2 billion in potentially wasteful government funds and securing $613 million in savings for taxpayers.

The axed contracts were connected to several different federal agencies, according to a May 1 X post from DOGE.

Additional cuts included a $24,000 Department of Homeland Security training allocation for equal employment opportunities and a $15,000 contract with Out and Equal Workplace Advocates, a nonprofit organization focused on promoting “LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion.”

The DOGE task force, created under President Trump with heavy input from Elon Musk, also cut nearly 470,000 federal credit cards last month in an effort to trim even more fringes of unnecessary government spending.

“Credit Card Update! The program to audit unused/unneeded credit cards has been expanded to 30 agencies. After 7 weeks, ~470k cards have been de-activated. As a reminder, at the start of the audit, there were ~4.6M active cards/accounts, so still more work to do,” DOGE announced in April.

“Twice as many credit cards are issued and active than the total number of government employees! Crazy,” Elon Musk added.

Texas itself has even recently established its own statewide DOGE under Governor Greg Abbott, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Abbott signed Senate Bill 14 in April, establishing Texas’ own Regulatory Efficiency Office, similarly aimed at streamlining federal oversight and cutting red tape throughout the Lone Star State.

“We are putting at the forefront of legislation the shaping, formation, and recalibration of government in the State of Texas to make it more responsive and more efficient,” Abbott said in an April 23 press release.
