The Texas Rangers’ record is just 16-14, and they have fallen to third place in the American League West standings in the early portion of this season.

Texas currently sits behind both the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners in the AL West standings. The Astros are in second place with a record of 16-13, and the Mariners have claimed first place with a record of 17-12.

The Rangers have struggled in recent series against the San Francisco Giants and Athletics, putting up a record of only 4-6 in their last 10 games as they slide down in the standings.

Unsurprisingly, the Rangers’ biggest difference in wins and losses this season comes from the offense’s performance.

Texas has scored an average of 4.7 runs per game in wins, which is coming while batting only .251 with a slugging percentage of only .430. Thus, the Rangers are putting up impressive offensive performances in wins despite poor batting.

In comparison, the Rangers have struggled offensively in the team’s 14 losses this season, putting up just 27 runs in 14 losses for an average of only 1.9 runs per game, which is amongst the lowest average in losses for a team in the MLB this season.

These struggles have seemingly prompted the Rangers to make a move in the trade market, though a recent trade does not address any of the team’s biggest concerns on offense.

Texas is clearly looking to shake up the locker room as the team has traded veteran right-handed reliever Matt Festa to the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for cash considerations, according to Sports Illustrated.

The Rangers will now prepare for a matchup against the Athletics tonight at 7:05 p.m., followed by a 1:35 p.m. matchup on Thursday afternoon.

Following these two games, the Rangers will begin a crucial series on Friday against the Mariners that could sway the division lead.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the Rangers have struggled against the Mariners in head-to-head matchups in recent memory. They opened this season with a record of 0-3 after finishing last season with a 3-10 record against Seattle.
