A 33-year-old mother from Tyler, Texas, was arrested after allegedly bringing vodka-infused Jell-O shots to her daughter’s fifth-grade Christmas party at Jones Elementary School, according to an affidavit obtained by KETK.
The incident occurred on December 20, 2024, but the mother was taken into custody on April 21, 2025, following an investigation. According to an affidavit, she purchased the Jell-O shots from a home-based business she found on Facebook.
The vendor’s advertisement reportedly indicated that the treats contained vodka, and the mother inquired about the alcohol content only after the party had begun.
Fifteen students consumed the Jell-O shots, leading to symptoms such as stomachaches, headaches, vomiting, and, in one case, a child passing out.
Teachers who tasted the Jell-O identified the presence of alcohol and promptly sent the affected students to the nurse.
The mother was arrested on April 21, 2025, and charged with reckless bodily injury to a child. She was released the same day after posting a $75,000 bond and has been banned from school grounds by the district.
The school district stated that they are cooperating with law enforcement and have taken measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their students.
