The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued recall warnings on Thursday about two children’s ride-on toys made by Huffy that pose a hazard to users.

12V Tonka Dump Truck

The ride-on 12V Tonka Dump Truck has been recalled because the controller can overheat, “posing fire and burn hazards,” the commission’s website states. About 23,260 units are subject to the recall.

The specific toys affected by the recall include model 17323 with date codes 15923 through 36523 and 00124 through 18724 and model 17362 with date codes 15623 through 36523 and 00124 through 18424. The date code label can be found next to the UPC label on the underside of the truck.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled children’s dump trucks and contact Huffy for a free replacement controller,” the CPSC website states.

Torex UTV Ride-On

The Huffy Torex UTV Ride-On, sold exclusively at Walmart, has been recalled due to a fire hazard. The concern is that “connector degradation may lead to overheating, and in certain, very limited circumstances, units could smoke or even catch on fire,” the manufacturer’s website says.

The recall affects toys with date codes 16919 through 11122. The date codes can be found next to the UPC label under the body of the toy vehicle near the rear wheel. These toys were sold at Walmart stores and walmart.com from August 1, 2019, through December 18, 2024.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled UTVs and contact Huffy Corporation to schedule a free repair. They can also have the repair done by a third party. Huffy Corporation will reimburse consumers up to $50 USD for charges incurred in the third-party repair.

Consumers have reported injuries associated with the use of this product, according to the CPSC, but no further details were given about the number or severity of the injuries.
