Dallas police have made an arrest in connection to the forced prostitution of a 13-year-old girl between April 1 and April 8.
Police said a 13-year-old girl was allegedly forced to perform sex acts for money by 25-year-old Jordyn Davidson, who has been charged with compelling prostitution under the age of 18, according to Fox 4 DFW.
An arrest affidavit states that the 13-year-old told police that “she got into a car with an unknown suspect who dropped her off at the homeless encampment off Harry Hines [Boulevard],” per Fox 4.
The 13-year-old claimed that she met Davidson at the camp, who initially taught her about living on the streets before telling the teenager that it would be “beneficial to combine their money from performing sexual acts,” per NBC 5 DFW.
The child later told investigators that she “felt stuck not knowing how to return home safely,” which led her to choose to stay at the camp.
Police say the disappearance of the young teen did not meet the requirements for an AMBER Alert, though no official statement has been given on the matter, per NBC 5.
The mother of the child, who has not been identified for safety reasons, said the family received a tip about the location of her daughter on the night she was found, as reported by CBW News.
The mother also said she has been unable to talk to her daughter about the incident since returning home.
“The first thing she told me was that she was scared, she was scared. I told her, ‘Don’t be scared anymore, you’re with your family now,’” she said to CBS News Texas.
“I called the police because I thought I was going to have their help. I’ve never had an experience like this.”
Bianca Davis, CEO of New Friends New Life, called the situation “heartbreaking” and said it is “also unsurprising” due to the amount of sexual trafficking in Dallas.
“On any given night, 400 teen girls are trafficked on the streets of Dallas,” she said, per Fox 4. “The average age of the girl that’s trafficked is 15 years old.”
Davidson is currently in the Dallas County Jail on a $100,000 bond, according to NBC 5.
