State Rep. Nate Schatzline, a Republican from Fort Worth, introduced House Bill 1443 during this legislative session, aiming to outlaw the promotion and possession of child-like sex dolls in Texas.
The bill, laid out before the House on April 3, 2025, seeks to create a new criminal offense targeting those who manufacture, sell, distribute, or possess sex dolls designed to resemble minors. Schatzline argues that the measure is a critical step in protecting children from exploitation.
“It’s shocking that we even have to do this, but these HORRIFIC devices that resemble real kids are being used to train predators!” Schatzline wrote on social media. “It’s time we END the normalization of pedophilia & protect Texas kids!”
Supporters, including the Texas Family Project, rallied behind the bill during its hearing. The group testified in favor of it, calling it a necessary tool to combat potential abuse.
Many social media users responded in support of the bill, including Christie Slape, who wrote, “This literally brings me to tears. The horrific things that are done to children is pure evil. Thank you @NateSchatzline for exposing the darkness and taking action to prevent such depraved acts.”
If passed, HB 1443 would make Texas one of the few states to explicitly ban such items, following Tennessee’s lead in 2022.
