The latest health inspection report from the City of Dallas concluded that eight restaurants require a follow-up inspection, with others called out for the presence of roaches and rat droppings.

While no restaurants were deemed “unacceptable” or failed health inspections, eight establishments scored below 80, meeting the criteria for follow-up inspections within 10 days. In total, 177 restaurants in the City were inspected between March 23 and 29.

Restaurants scoring at least 90 out of 100 on the City’s grading scale are considered very good, and those graded 80 to 89 are considered good.

Four restaurants in the City were found to have roaches, though all scored at least 80.

  • Kanpai Coffee & Beer Garden at 215 Henry St.: 80
  • El Centro Supermarket at 8231 Park Lane: 85
  • Hampton Food Mart at 3900 N Hampton Road: 91
  • The Riverfront Cafe at 1919 S Riverfront Blvd.: 93

Inspectors found rat droppings near the dry ingredient storage at one establishment in the City, Me & Mom’s Diner, located at 5057 Singleton Blvd. The restaurant was graded an 80 by City officials.

Scores below 80 require a re-inspection, and scores below 60 prompt closure and re-inspection. RJ Mexican Cuisine at 1701 No Market St. Suite 102 had the lowest score in Dallas at 71. Seven other restaurants also fell into the 70-79 score range.
