The Texas Rangers have started the 2025 season well as the team sits atop the American League West division with an overall record of 5-2 through two series.

Texas took down the Boston Red Sox 3-1 in a series to start the season and followed those games with a 2-1 series win over the Cincinnati Reds.

On the offensive side of the game, the Rangers have been led by outfielders Wyatt Langford and Adolis Garcia.

Langford is currently batting .269 with two home runs through his seven appearances, while Garcia is batting .227 with two home runs, though he also has an impressive slugging percentage of .636 in his at-bats.

While the Rangers have put up some solid offensive numbers to begin the season, the best performances have come from the team’s pitchers.

Jack Leiter currently leads the Rangers starting pitchers with an earned run average (ERA) of just 0.90 in his 10 innings pitched while also striking out 10 batters and only allowing six total hits.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said the most impressive aspect of Leiter’s performances is his “pitchability,” pointing to his confidence in playing on the mound.

“That’s what you’re seeing. He’s not trying to bull his way through lineups. He’s throwing strikes. He is not putting guys on base. He’s pounding the strike zone, not beating himself. It’s a very, very competitive game. When you start putting guys on, you start beating yourself a little bit. He’s not doing that,” said Bochy, per Rangers.com.

Nathan Eovaldi has also put on a show during his time on the mound, finishing his first two starts of the season with 15 innings pitched and an ERA of only 1.20 while striking out 17 batters.

The Rangers will look to keep this momentum with a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays, beginning tonight at 7:05 p.m. at Globe Life Field. Two more matchups against the Rays will follow on Saturday and Sunday.

Texas will then embark on a six-game road trip against the Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners before its first divisional series against the Los Angeles Angels.
