On Tuesday evening, President Donald Trump’s address to Congress was met with a wave of Democratic opposition, including vocal dissent, coordinated attire, and outright boycotts.

As Trump delivered his remarks, several Democratic lawmakers attempted to boo in response to statements they opposed.

Representative Al Green (D-Texas) was even removed from the chamber after loudly protesting early in the speech.

In addition to the audible pushback, the Democratic Women’s Caucus staged a silent but powerful protest by wearing pink, a symbolic gesture against the administration’s policies. Representative Teresa Leger Fernández stated that the coordinated attire was meant to send a message of defiance and unity.

Beyond the disruptions inside the chamber, some Democrats opted to boycott the speech entirely. These lawmakers cited concerns over Trump’s rhetoric, which they characterized as divisive and anti-immigrant.

However, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries urged his caucus to maintain a dignified presence, discouraging excessive disruptions like props, heckling, or staged walkouts.

Despite the Democratic opposition, Trump remained steadfast in his address, highlighting his administration’s actions and asserting that his policies have led to “swift and unrelenting” progress for the country.
