Get ready for an exciting addition to the dining scene in DFW! In summer 2025, downtown Prosper will welcome 1902, a fresh American steakhouse with a hidden speakeasy charm, taking over the former Prosper Wine House at 209 W. Broadway St.
The vision behind 1902 springs from the creative minds at Alora Hospitality Group, a collaboration between Donny Churchman from Nack Development and the seasoned hospitality entrepreneur Jason Young.
Their mission? To inject new life into historic downtown areas through innovative concepts.
Leading the culinary charge is the talented Chef Amy DiBiase, a New England native and Johnson & Wales University alum, reports CultureMap Dallas. With an impressive resume that includes celebrated venues like the Intercontinental Hotel in San Diego and the award-winning Tidal at Paradise Resort and Spa, DiBiase brings a wealth of experience to the table.
“Chef DiBiase has an international background and has experience running multiple restaurant groups,” said Young, per CultureMap. “We aim to make her a standout star in North Texas.”
Alora’s portfolio also boasts unique spots like The Parlour (with Board & Bread), Old Town Pie Co., catering ventures, and a brewery. Although they’ve moved on from previous partnerships, their ambitious vision for 1902 includes a significant $1 million renovation of the venue, which is nestled among an eclectic mix of vintage and contemporary structures on West Broadway.
The property was newly constructed in 2023 by the original owners of Prosper Wine House in collaboration with the Prosper Economic Development Corporation, and Alora acquired it in January.
At 1902, diners can expect an elevated yet inviting experience for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. While specific menu items are still under wraps, Young hints at a delicious selection that will include steaks, fresh pasta, juicy burgers, and crisp salads. The restaurant will also feature a full bar featuring cocktails, beer, and a curated wine list, continuing the legacy of its predecessor.
Adding to the excitement, 1902 will also launch a speakeasy on its second level, called Mary Ann’s.
This Prohibition-era-styled lounge will offer handcrafted cocktails in a sophisticated atmosphere, complete with live music for an adult-friendly vibe. To ensure the cool factor of the hidden entrance, Mary Ann’s will be accessible via a sleek elevator, a highlight of the major renovations underway.
“With necessary updates like a commercial kitchen and a new grease trap, we’re transforming the entire space to create something truly special,” says Young.
“Our goal is to energize the downtown area and provide residents with an unforgettable exprience, while also shining a light on the fantastic local merchants surrounding us,” added Young.
