Fans of the Dallas Mavericks are reporting that the team is expected to significantly increase season ticket prices next year.

Following days of protest and confusion due to the Mavericks trading superstar Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers, some fans are reporting that the franchise is raising season ticket prices by over 60%, according to NBC 5 DFW.

As a result, fans will either have to pay thousands more to retain their season tickets or choose to vacate them altogether, making it difficult for many franchise fans to make a decision.

One team fan, 89-year-old Jackie Marx, said she is disappointed by both the trade and price increases but still plans to support the team next season.

“I don’t think so, I want to go see what’s going to happen, let’s at least give it a chance,” she said, per NBC 5.

“I don’t think it’s going to be good, I definitely don’t think it’s going to be great, but I want to see what’s going to happen.”

This support is not uncommon from fans across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Many expressed their shock and disappointment but said that they would continue to support both Doncic and the Mavericks.

“I think that the team and the franchise and the ownership completely betrayed the fans. Completely betrayed them and in order to get that trust back it’s going to take a lot more,” said Mavericks superfan Finesse Fave, according to Fox 4 KDFW.

“Ticket sales will be down. Jersey sales will be down. People will be boycotting the team. There’s going to be a lot of stuff going on.”

However, Finessee said he would always support the Mavericks and wanted the team to be successful with the new pieces that were acquired.

Dallas will now look to bounce back from a disastrous 43-point loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers over the weekend with a matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers tonight at 6 p.m.
