The Dallas Cowboys finished the 2024 NFL regular season with an overall record of 7-10 and have officially secured the 12th overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The last time the Cowboys made a selection in the Top 15 of the NFL Draft was in 2021 when they selected linebacker Micah Parsons out of Penn State with the 12th pick. This selection has proven to be a fantastic one for the franchise over the last four seasons.

This offseason will mark just the seventh time the Cowboys will have selected a player within the Top 15 of the NFL Draft since 2000, per The Cowboys.

Since 2020, 14 teams have made the playoffs every season in the NFL, meaning the 18 teams that missed the playoffs have already become aware of the selections that they will hold in the upcoming draft.

The order for the first 18 selections of the 2025 NFL Draft is as follows:

  1. Tennessee Titans
  2. Cleveland Browns
  3. New York Giants
  4. New England Patriots
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars
  6. Las Vegas Raiders
  7. New York Jets
  8. Carolina Panthers
  9. New Orleans Saints
  10. Chicago Bears
  11. San Francisco 49ers
  12. Dallas Cowboys
  13. Arizona Cardinals
  14. Indianapolis Colts
  15. Atlanta Falcons
  16. Miami Dolphins
  17. Cincinnati Bengals
  18. Seattle Seahawks

Dallas will likely explore various players and positions available before their selection, with offensive skill positions and the defensive line standing out as the biggest needs on the roster.

Offensive players such as wide receiver Luther Burden III from Missouri and running back Ashton Jeanty from Boise State could be available during the Cowboys’ selection and would become major pieces for the offense during the 2025 season.

Both players would become immediate starters for the team and expand the skill position rooms, in which the Cowboys had little depth throughout the season. They often relied on players who were selected in later rounds or signed to cheap contracts.

On the other hand, the Cowboys could select a player to help improve the defensive line, with players such as defensive tackle Derrick Harmon of Oregon and defensive edge James Pearce Jr. from Tennessee becoming potential targets for the team.
